Mission Statement
Encora is a centre for adult education, part of the larger network Antwerp City Education. Accessible, challenging and future-oriented: the Antwerp City Education is one of the major school authorities in Flanders, offering almost 55,000 pupils and students the opportunity to develop their skills and talent on a daily basis. They are motivated and inspired by 6,545 teachers, support staff and policy officers. The majority of our employees are subsidised by the Flemish Community and work in the schools, academies and centres. The other employees work in the support departments. The Antwerp City Education has 116 schools, academies and centres for adult education in 172 locations throughout the city of Antwerp. Following the autonomy of Antwerp City Education in 2010 into a City Education Authority, our organisation's operations have undergone a significant change. The organisation developed a flexible, modern structure, allowing it to control its own future.

We are Encora. We carry the student in our hearts. Each student follows a personal trajectory at Encora. Driven by the values ​​of trust, expertise, openness, involvement and inspiration, all Encora employees are committed to the student. We show this by making an effort during the entire process for those things that help the student to achieve his or her learning goal. Sometimes we see that student again to complete a different trajectory.
At Encora we have a wide range of education and a diverse audience. We organize ourselves in such a way that we can make maximum use of that diversity. On the one hand, by being very clear about what we do, for whom and why. And on the other hand, by offering each student a personalized educational offer and adapted guidance. All Encora employees are committed to making this differentiated approach and personal trajectories possible.
This personal approach works better if we do this in an open atmosphere. We are committed to facilitating and creating collaboration and dialogue, both inside and outside the classroom. The teacher plays a crucial role in this.
